Day 02: In Delhi
This Morning, Proceed For City Tour Of Old & New Delhi Visiting Includes The Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, Delhi Gate, And Raj Ghat And Shanti Vana, The Last Two Being Modern Structures Constructed After India's Independence In 1947. New Delhi, On The Other Hand, Is A Modern City Designed By Edwin Lutyens And Herbert Baker. It Is A Spacious, Open City That Houses Many Government Buildings And Embassies, Besides Places Of Historical Interest. Day 03: Delhi - Mandawa (Drive 263 Kms)
This Morning We Will Drive To Mandawa, Often Referred To As Rajasthan's Open Art Gallery. Mandawa Is A Sleepy Little Typical Rajasthani Town, Which Is Deep Rooted With Culture. Stay Here In Your Heritage Hotel, Castle Mandawa. Later Enjoy A Walking Tour Of Mandawa, Which Includes The Medieval Fort That Gradually Rises On The Horizon Like A Mirage. A Painted Arched Gateway Adorned With Lord Krishna And His Cows Leads To The Bazaar. A Breathtaking View Of The Town Can Be Seen From The Terrace Of Castle Mandawa. The Mandawa Family Has A Collection Of Traditional Ceremonial Costumes.
Day 04: Mandawa - Jaipur (Drive 167 Kms)
Drive To Jaipur This Morning. The Capital Of The State Of Rajasthan Is Popularly Known As The 'Pink City' As The Buildings In Its Old, Walled City Are All Constructed In Pink-Colored Sandstone. Jaipur Owes Its Name, Its Foundation And Its Careful Planning To The Great Warrior-Astronomer Maharaja Jai Singh Ii (1699-1744). He Laid Out The City With Its Surrounding Walls And Six Rectangular Blocks By Principles Of Town Planning Set Out In An Ancient Hindu Treatise On Architecture. In 1728 He Constructed The Remarkable Observatory, Which Is Still One Of Jaipur's Central Attractions. It Is Worthwhile Spending Any Leisure Time Wandering Through The Bazaars. Jaipur Is Well Known For Its Beautiful Carpets, Enamelled Ornaments, Precious And Semi-Precious Stones, Brass Ornaments And Many Other Arts And Crafts.
Day 05: Jaipur
This Morning, You Will Drive 11 Kms In The Outskirts Of The City To Visit Amber Fort, The Ancient Capital Of The State Until 1728. Visit The Kali Temple, The Hall Of Victory Or Jai Mahal And Jagmandir. You Can Have The Unique Experience Of Traveling On Elephant Back To And From The Top Of The Hill On Which The Fort Is Situated. In The Afternoon Visit The Observatory, The Palace Of Winds And The City Palace And Museum. The Museum Has An Interesting Textile Section, Which Contains Dresses And Costumes Of The Former Maharajas And Maharanis Of Jaipur. Late Evening, Return To Your Hotel For Overnight Stay.
Day 06: Jaipur - Agra (Drive – 246 Kms)
This Morning, Leave For Agra Enroute Visiting Fatehpur Sikri - Often Referred To As Abandoned Moghul Capital. This 16th Century Capital Of Moghul Emperor Akbar Is A Complex Of Forts, Palaces And Mosques Built In Sandstone. The City Had To Be Deserted Because Of Lack Of Water. The White Marble Tomb Of Sheikh Salim Chisti, Akbar's Spiritual Adviser, Is Now Observed As A Muslim Pilgrimage Spot Here. Check In At Hotel Trident Upon Arrival. Rest Of The Day Is At Leisure.
Day 07: In Agra
Today Proceed For A Half Day Guided City Tour Of Taj Mahal. In Particular, Agra Has Its Magnificent Fort And The Building Which Many People Have Visited India Solely To See - The Taj Mahal. This Morning Tours Visit This White Marble Mausoleum, Which Was Built In The Middle Of The 17th Century By The Moghul Emperor Shah Jehan For His Wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Day 08: Agra - Jhansi – Khajuraho (Train + Drive – 172 Kms)
In Time, You Will Be Transferred To Agra Railway Station Enable Board Train For Jhansi. Upon Arrival, You Will Be Met Upon Arrival At Jhansi Railway Station And Straight Proceed For Khajuraho - 190 Kms Enroute Visiting Orchha. Orchha, Now A Small Hamlet In The State Of Madhya Pradesh, Was Once The Capital Of The Formidable Bundela Kings Who Ruled Over A Large Tract Between The Ganga And Narmada In Medieval Times. According To Legends, King Rudra Pratap Chose This Place Situated On The Loop Of The River Betwa To Make His Capital In Ad 1501. Located At A Distance Of 16 Km From Jhansi, Orchha Rises Out Of The Hills And The Greens Surrounding It. The Historical Monuments Of Orchha Still Retain Their Pristine Charm And Narrate Stories Of War And Peace, Of Love And Destruction. Day 09: Khajuraho – Varanasi By Flight
Morning Proceed For A Half Day Visit To Eastern & Western Group Of Temples. The Magnificent Temples Built By The Chandela Kings. They Are Divided Into Three - Eastern, Western And Southern Groups. The Largest Temple Is Kandariay Dedicated To Lord Shiva. The Temples Known For Their Erotic Sculpture Are World Famous. In Time Transfer To The Airport To Board Flight 9w 334 (1330/1410) For Varanasi. From Airport, Straight Proceed For A Guided Excursion To Sarnath - Where Lord Buddha Preached His First Sermon. A Major Buddhist Centre, Sarnath Lies 10 Kilometres North East Of Varanasi. It Was Here That Buddha Preached His Message Of The 'Middle Way' To Nirvana After Achieving Enlightenment At Bodhgaya. In Around 234 Bc, Emperor Ashoka, A Great Follower Of Buddhism, Erected A Stupa Here. Between The 3rd Century Bc And The 11th Century Ad, Several Buddhist Structures Were Built Here In Sarnath. Most Of The Sarnath's Monuments Are Set In Large Gardens Making It Quite Pleasant For A Visitor To Spend Some Time Here. Later Check-In At Hotel Radisson.
Day 10: To Delhi
Early In The Morning, Enjoy A Boat Ride On The River Ganges. The Most Important Facet Of This Holy City Is The River And The Ghats Lining Its Southern Bank In The City.
