Today We Travel To Ancient Agra In India’s Heartland, Once A Stronghold Of Mughal Rulers. We’ll Have The Special Opportunity To View The Taj Mahal From Across The Yamura River At Sunset. B,L,D

A Travel Highlight Today As We Enjoy A Sunrise Tour Of The Taj Mahal, The Magnificent Tomb Built By Emperor Shah Jahan In Memory Of His Beloved Wife Mumtaz. After Breakfast We Visit Itmad-Ud-Daulah, Believed To Have Been An Inspiration For The Taj Mahal; And Imposing Agra Fort, Comprising Palaces, Pavilions, Courtyards, And Gardens Surrounded By A Massive Wall. Following An Afternoon At Leisure, Tonight We Enjoy A Cooking Demonstration And Dinner In The Home Of An Indian Colonel. B,D
Day 7: Agra-Fatehpur Sikri-Jaipur
We Leave Agra For The Walled City Jaipur, Capital Of Rajasthan Known As The “Pink City” For Its Buildings Of Rose-Hued Sandstone. Along The Way We Tour Fatehpur Sikri, The Elegant Late 16th-Century City Of Red Sandstone That Is Now A UNESCO World Heritage Site. After Stopping For Lunch And To Visit A Local Village, We Reach Our Hotel Late Afternoon. B,L,D
Day 8: Jaipur
This Morning We Visit The Splendid Amber Fort, Built By The Kkachhawah Rajputs As Their Capital From 1037 To 1728. Our Tour Of The Uninhabited Citadel Includes The Magnificent Fresco-Covered Portal, The Opulent Room Of Mirrors, Walls Of Jewel-Encrusted Marble, And The Royal Apartments. Then We Tour Jaipur Itself, Including The City Palace Museum, Housing The Priceless Art Collections Of The Maharajahs Of Jaipur; And Jantar Mantar, The Open-Air 18th-Century Royal Observatory. We Depart Early This Morning For The Flight To Guwahati, Gateway To India’s Northeast. Upon Arrival We Transfer To The Hotel. B,L,D
Day 10: Guwahati-Orang National Park-Guwahati
Early This Morning We Cruise By Expedition Tenders To Peacock Island, Home Of Eight Rare Golden Langurs Which We See As We Visit An Historic Temple Here. We Continue On To A Local Village, Where We Can Mingle With Residents. Then We Cruise To Orang National Park, Where We Embark On A Jeep Safari To Search For One-Horned Rhino, Royal Bengal Tiger, Barking Deer, Elephant, And Leopard. B,L,D
Day 11: Guwahati-Kaziranga
We Travel This Morning To Kaziranga Where We Visit The 6th-Century Ruins Of A Hindu Temple And A 10th-Century Palace, And Cole Park For Panoramic Views Of The River. B,L,D
Day 12: In Kaziranga
A Pre-Dawn Jeep Ride Brings Us To The Central Zone Of This UNESCO World Heritage Site, One Of The World’s Premier Wild-Life Preserves. This Morning We Embark On An Elephant-Back Safari In The Park’s Central Zone; Later, A Jungle Safari By Jeep In The Eastern Zone. B,L,D
Day 13: Kaziranga-Jorhat
Today We Cruise To Neamati, Where This Afternoon In Jorhat We Tour The Tea Research Center, A Century-Old Cooperative Dedicated To Tea Cultivation. B,L,D
Day 14: Jorhat-Majuli Island-Sibsagar
This Morning We Call On The River Island Of Majuli, Cradle Of Assamese Culture For 500 Years. After Time To Explore, We Travel On To Sibsagar. B,L,D
Day 15: Sibsagar-Dibrugarh
Here We Explore Ruins From The Ahom Kingdom, Thai Speakers Who Ruled Assam For 600 Years Before Falling To The British In 1827. Next, We Travel To The British Colonial Town Of Dibrugarh. B,L,D
Day 16: Dibrugarh-Kolkata
We Transfer To The Airport For The Flight To Kolkata (Formerly Calcutta). Capital Of West Bengal State, And Capital Of India During The British Raj, Kolkata Mixes East And West, Old And New In A Confounding Stew, As We See On Our Orientation Tour Featuring The Victoria Memorial, St. Paul’s Cathedral, And The Indian Museum. Tonight We Enjoy A Farewell Dinner. B,D
Day 17: Kolkata-Delhi
This Morning We Visit Mother House, Site Of Mother Teresa’s Tomb And Where Her Missionaries Of Charity Serve Kolkata’s Poor. We Return To Our Hotel Where The Remainder Of The Day Is At Leisure (And Our Rooms Reserved For Late Check-Out); Early This Evening We Transfer To The Airport For The Flight To Delhi, Where We Connect With Our Return Flight To The U.S. B
